One type of custom wheel that can really give your ride a new look are 3 piece wheels. Three piece wheels are made to fit top end domestic, import and exotic cars as well as sport utilities.
The three parts of such a rim are the center, inner rim section and outer rim section.
Steps to Assemble a Three Piece Wheel
Choosing the wheel components
Pick a wheel center which will give your car the look you desire. The inner and outer sections will then be determined by the size of tire they must match. The outer rim, which will be smaller than the inner, will be the visible part of the rim and has more polish to it.
Sealing the Rim Sections
Apply a thin layer of a silicone sealant on the surfaces which will be joined. This will prevent leakages of air (or nitrogen if you use this in the tires).
Arranging the Rim Sections
First, place the inner rim on a flat surface, and then put the outer rim on it. At this time you fit the inner section on.
Joining the wheel Sections
Place all of the bolts in the proper places and tighten them by hand
Line-up Check and Tightening
Go over the wheel and checck for alignment, making sure all surfaces that touch have sealant between them. Then tighten the bolts to the correct torque using the appropriate wrench. Wheels should be left for a couple days to allow the sealant to cure.
